Update

Well a lot  has happened in the past week. On Tuesday, September 14th, Ethan was playing with his Daddy and was playing on Daddy’s legs and decided to throw himself off and fell on his head on the floor, it was on the carpet, but he was screaming and then had what the doctors are calling an “episode” which was possibly a seizure. We were then instructed by the NS to take him to Primary Children’s ER again. There they did another CT scan, his 5th since the surgery, and found what looked like possibly a thin layer of blood in his head. They admitted him, and watched him overnight to see if he’d have another “episode” which he didn’t and sent us home on Wednesday.

Well Wednesday night Ethan was pretty fussy and sleepy and we figured it was A- from being in the hospital and not getting much sleep and also B- teething pain. No biggie right? Well Thursday all day Ethan was pretty fussy and didn’t want to play, just wanted to be held, and when he wasn’t sleeping he was crying. again we figured it was teething. :(

Thursday night he threw up, then throughout the night he threw up 2-3 more times, then in the morning when he wasn’t holding anything down anymore, he was dry heaving and throwing up stomach acid we decided it was time to go back to the ER. He looked so terrible and so ill that I knew something wasn’t right.

Unfortunately Friday (Today) was Elijah’s best friends wedding, that Elijah was supposed to be a part of the fun & picture taking. We were so excited for the three of us to go, but Ethan’s health takes priority over everything. Sorry Benna! We wish we could have been a part of your special day! :(

Well at the ER because Ethan had been so lethargic and his eyes were sunken in, and his soft spot was bulging, they did another CT scan showing that the fluids in his brain had increased, and that he possibly has had hydrocephalus his whole life, but it was masked by the cyst and when the cyst was removed it came forward.

So Ethan had an emergency surgery done, they placed a drain that goes into his brain and then out to a bag where they can drain the cerebral spinal fluid so they can test to see if the fluids will circulate on there own. The drain will be in a few days, and then we will do some tests and try to remove it. If he shows that he is dependent on the drain they will do another surgery to place a shunt that he will have for the rest of his life.

Well I should sleep now, I will try and post some pictures tomorrow.
